The Road (Blog #1)

McCarthy has an unmistakable prose style. What do you see as the most distinctive features of that style? How is the writing in The Road in some ways more like poetry than prose?

  1. McCarthy's writing is definitely very distinct. He uses really great simple visuals that aren't overbearing, but encompass the post-apocalyptical world very well. McCarthy doesn't include chapters in The Road, instead he has a ton of line breaks that make it more like poetry. He has made it almost like the book is just a bunch of stanzas sewn together. I personally think McCarthy's style of writing is fucking rad.
